Constitution Day
Constitution Day commemorates the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution by thirty-nine brave men on September 17, 1787. It recognizes all who are born in the U.S. or, by naturalization, have become citizens. Each educational institution that receives federal funds for a fiscal year is required to offer educational programming about the U.S. Constitution for its students. The U.S. Department of Education does not mandate or prescribe particular curricula or lesson plans. Stevenson encourages other educational institutions to conduct ceremonies and programs that bring together community members. We believe it is important to reflect on active engagement, recognize the enduring strength of our Constitution, and reaffirm our commitment to the rights and obligations of citizenship in this great Nation.
