Dental & Maxillofacial
The Department was created in February, 2013 and officially commissioned by the then Honorable Minister of state for Health: Dr. Khaliru Alhassan on the 15th of August 2014 with Dr Olawale Wasiu: A maxillofacial surgeon as the pioneer Head of Department.
Presently the Department is headed by Dr. Bruno Ile-Ogedengbe and the Department is well staffed with number of in house doctors and visiting maxillofacial surgeons, technologists, therapists, dental nurses/technicians. There is wide spectrum of services being rendered which include reduction of fractures involving the jaw bones, resection of tumors involving the jaw bone as well as the associated rehabilitation, restoration of the dentition from structural defect following dental caries or fractured tooth, cystic enucleation, tissue regenerative therapy, advance conservative procedures like crowns and bridges (fixed dentures), fabrication of removable dentures such as partial and complete dentures, exodontia of hopeless tooth among others.
The department have successfully divided into several units; oral diagnosis, oral surgery, restorative, therapy/ dental prophylaxis and dental technology units.
Due to the comparative cheap prices of our services, we enjoy patronages from within and outside the state with the resultant stretching of the facilities on ground which will necessitate future expansion especially for the facilities in the department.
