(NSUH) in Manhasset,
Long Island Jewish (LIJ) Medical Center
in New Hyde Park,
Lenox Hill Hospital
in Manhattan and
Glen Cove Hospital

combined to earn top 50 national rankings in 26 adult specialties.
NSUH, LIJ and Lenox each tied for the fifth-best hospital in New York, while
Huntington Hospital
tied for 15th, and
South Shore University Hospital
in Bay Shore ranked 17th.
Staten Island University Hospital
tied for No. 19 along with Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, formerly part of Nuvance Health, which recently joined Northwell. The merger,
completed in May
, created the largest not-for-profit health system in the Northeast with 28 hospitals, more than 1,050 ambulatory care locations and 73 urgent care locations.

Northwell was recently named among the
TIME100 Most Influential Companies 2025
. As New York’s largest health care provider and private employer, Northwell was the only integrated health system to make the list. In addition, Fortune magazine named Northwell one of the
2024 Best Places to Work in Healthcare,
while the system was named a national leader in LGBTQ+ inclusiveness by the
2024 Healthcare Equality Index
, compiled by the Human Rights Campaign.
This marks the 36th anniversary of U.S. News’ Best Hospitals rankings. Its methodologies in most areas of care are based largely on objective measures such as risk-adjusted survival and discharge-to-home rates, volume, and quality of nursing, among other care-related indicators. U.S. News evaluated nearly 4,500 medical centers nationwide in 15 specialties to compile its 2025-26 rankings. Only 152 U.S. hospitals were ranked in at least one specialty.
When U.S. News released its analysis of the nation’s best children’s hospitals in 2024, Northwell’s
Cohen Children’s Medical Center
in New Hyde Park was
highest ranked on Long Island
and earned top 50 national rankings for exceptional care in 10 pediatric specialties.
Northwell Health named to TIME100 Most Influential Companies 2025 list
This recognition comes on the heels of other TIME honors for Michael Dowling and two Northwell inventions.
