Community Fund
Our community gives, our school thrives.
At San Francisco Waldorf School, we rely on annual tax-deductible donations from our school community to continue providing a holistic, hands-on, high-quality education to San Francisco Waldorf School students. Every year, our goal is to reach 100% participation from our community, including families, faculty, and staff.
"We love what Waldorf is and what it stands for, so we are happy to give our time and money to make sure it can continue its mission."
Ed Recinto and Jill Santos, High School Parents

What Your Gift Supports
While tuition funds a significant portion of our school’s operating expenses, it does not cover the full cost of a San Francisco Waldorf School education.
The Community Fund helps support a wide range of needs and programs, from our beautiful classrooms to our extraordinary teachers. Your gift supports:
Professional development opportunities that enable our teachers to participate in ongoing training, workshops, and conferences, promoting personal and professional growth within our faculty.
The Equitable Tuition Program that makes a San Francisco Waldorf School education accessible to a diverse range of families through tuition assistance, allowing more children to benefit from this enriching education.
Artistic and outdoor programs, from music and theater to gardening, field trips, and handwork, fostering well-rounded individuals.
Technology, infrastructure, laboratory equipment, and materials for STEM-related disciplines, ensuring our school is equipped with the necessary resources to support learning while maintaining our commitment to a balanced, experience-based, and human-centered education.

While tuition covers most operational costs at San Francisco Waldorf School, the Community Fund plays a vital role in supporting our school’s broader vision and mission, enhancing the educational experience and ensuring the sustainability of the school over the long term. It also provides the financial stability that allows our school to respond to unforeseen challenges and opportunities.
Tuition covers the essentials, but the Community Fund allows the school to offer enriching programs that go beyond the core Waldorf curriculum, such as field trips, outdoor education, athletics, guest teachers, festivals, and events. The Community Fund is also vital in maintaining our two beautiful campuses in Pacific Heights and West Portal. While tuition may cover routine maintenance, significant upgrades and improvements to facilities often require additional funding.
Contributions to the Community Fund come from a broad cross-section of our community, including current and former parents and guardians, faculty and staff, alum, extended family, and special friends. Each of these groups brings a unique perspective and level of support, helping to ensure the financial health and sustainability of the school.
Achieving 100% participation from our current families and broad participation across all groups is an important sign of a strong and engaged school community. Every year, reaching 100% participation is a top priority.
How much to donate to the Community Fund is a personal decision. We receive gifts ranging from $1 to $100,000 and beyond! We invite you to make a gift that is meaningful to you and your family. Gifts of all sizes matter and help us reach our goal. The chart below shows the various gift levels needed for our 2025-2026 Community Fund Campaign.
100% participation in the Community Fund is a powerful indicator of a strong, committed, and cohesive community, which can significantly enhance the school's ability to attract additional funding, maintain financial stability, and foster a vibrant educational environment. 100% giving is a visible expression from all community members of care and a wish for a sense of belonging for all SFWS students.
Corporate matching gift programs are an excellent way to maximize your support for the school!
