Centre for Research on Science and Society – Bath Spa University The Centre for Research on Science and Society CRoSS explores the interplay between scientific advances and their broader societal implications and impacts. Through knowledge development and exchange, we aim to navigate, and answer, complex contemporary scientific challenges in society. What we do The Centre for Research on Science and Society (CRoSS) is the flagship Research Centre sitting within the School of Sciences. Its work focuses on the following: Interdisciplinary research We bring together researchers across Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Geography and Biology to explore the interactions between science, technology and society. Public engagement We promote public understanding and involvement in scientific issues such as digital literacy, mental health, climate change and more through public events and participation in outreach programmes, media engagement and popular science writing. Policy engagement Our work provides insights as to how scientific developments impact society, and we regularly interact with policymakers within government. Collaboration We enjoy strong collaborations with other academic institutions, as well as government and industry, with the aim of fostering knowledge exchange on contemporary science-relevant societal issues. The Centre consists of six core Research Clusters, representing the breadth and depth of research and knowledge exchange undertaken by staff within the School.
