Service members and veterans have expanded access to affordable higher education through a new partnership between the Tulane University School of Professional Advancement and NextOp, a non-profit organization dedicated to bridging the gap between military service and the civilian workforce by providing veterans with personalized career coaching and placement into high-growth industries.
“We are proud to partner with NextOp to expand pathways for veterans and service members as they transition into high-demand civilian careers.  This partnership reflects our commitment to meeting learners where they are and supporting the professional success of those who served our country,” said Ilianna Kwaske, senior associate dean at Tulane School of Professional Advancement.
Through this collaboration, eligible students now receive a 20 percent tuition discount on a variety of undergraduate and graduate degrees and certificates.
The partnership combines Tulane’s flexible online programs with NextOp’s career support services, creating a pathway for active, reserve and retired service members to advance academically and professionally. Fully online programs in fields such as business, technology, communication, design, legal studies, health, emergency management and more allow students to learn on a schedule that fits their lives—whether they are stationed overseas, transitioning from military service, or balancing work and family commitments.
"At NextOp, our mission is to ensure veterans find high-quality careers, and education is a vital part of that journey,” said Shelby Mounts, Executive Director of NextOP. “By partnering with Tulane SoPA, we are providing our members with a streamlined pathway to earn respected credentials or degrees that build upon their military experience. This collaboration is about more than just a classroom; it’s about equipping service members with the credentials and confidence they need to lead in the civilian workforce."
Beyond academics, NextOp helps students explore career opportunities, translating their military experience and new credentials into professional pathways. The partnership leverages the strengths of both organizations, offering education and career guidance in one coordinated approach.
Students earn a degree from a globally recognized university, gaining skills with strong career value. They also have access to Tulane’s expansive alumni network and professional resources, providing ongoing support for career advancement and long-term success.
This initiative offers service members and veterans a flexible, career-focused, and affordable way to earn a respected degree while preparing for meaningful professional opportunities.
