Non-degree Seeking Students
Students not seeking a degree, certificate, or credential who want to take classes
at Chapman can do so via the
Permit to Register
process. Classes may be taken for credit or audited. Students will not receive credit
for classes that are audited.
Through the Permit to Register process, you m
ust pay the "per credit" rate for the credits you will be earning or the audit rate
for the class. You can
find the current tuition and fees here
. Note that financial aid is not available for Permit to Register students.
How to register
Complete the
Permit to Register form
and
email it to the Office of the University Registrar at
regforms@chapman.edu
.
Registration for a non-degree seeking Permit to Register status
begins two weeks prior
to the term attended.
On the Permit to Register form, non-degree seeking students must
obtain approval to enroll in classes indicated by the signature of the instructor
or program department chair.
Note that all requirements for regular admission to a program must be fulfilled for
these courses to be accepted.
Undergraduate permit to register requirements
To take an undergraduate-level class, you must:
Show proof of a high school diploma or completion of GED.
Take no more than 9 credits per semester, and no more than 27 credits without being
officially admitted at Chapman University.
High School students interested in taking
summer
classes must also obtain approval from the
Office of Admission
in addition to submitting the Permit to Register form.
Graduate permit to register requirements
To take a graduate-level class, you must:
Provide unofficial transcripts indicating completion of a baccalaureate degree from
an accredited institution and have a minimum baccalaureate grade point average of
2.50.
Take no more than 12 credits. No more than 12 credits of graduate courses taken prior
to achieving regular admission status may be applied toward a graduate degree at Chapman
University.
Complete Permit to Register form
Save the Registration Permit form to your desktop, and input all necessary details
and your signatures. After completing your personal information on the form, you can
either print it to obtain the required signatures or attach it to an email.
