New Unit: Women in the History of Christianity.
Lecturer:
Dr Nicole Starling
This unit offers an opportunity to explore the unique perspectives and contributions women have made in building the church. It’s a chance to learn about where we’ve come from and who we are. We’ll learn about our sisters who contributed in countless ways, including exercising leadership, personal devotion to Jesus, writing theology and music, social activism and mission work.

Make sense of mental health challenges from a Christian perspective
There is increasing awareness of mental health in our society and in the church. But how do we make sense of mental health challenges from a Christian perspective? This unit will help you develop a sound biblical and theological understanding of mental health to inform your Christian ministry or professional work.
Theological Perspectives on Mental Health

Do Christians have anything to offer people suffering from mental ill-health? Is it better to leave things to the professionals or is there a gospel-informed approach we can offer? As people informed by the gospel of Jesus, the church and Christian individuals have a vital and unique role in this area.
In this unit you'll gain conceptual and practical tools to understand and minister to those at church, in your community or at work.

Why learn theology?
At its heart, theology is the study of words about God—who he is, how he’s revealed himself to us in Jesus, saved us through the cross, and what that means for us.
We're all theologians, practising theology every day, whenever we think about God, comfort a friend with Scripture, or try to understand his will in difficult circumstances.
That’s why we believe learning theology should be accessible to all people, at every stage of life—taught in a way that’s relevant to you, your ministry and your life.
When we do theology well, we’re learning how to live well: understanding the creator God and how he’s made this world; finding the right words to counsel friends; navigating the world with grace and wisdom.
That’s what learning with Mary Andrews College does. We’d love you to come and join us!

“MAC gave me crucial skills in how to take the gospel and share it appropriately with those around me. Through a mix of theological and pastoral care training, I feel I have a solid balance between being biblically literate while simultaneously knowing how to most effectively share that literacy with others.”
Laura Rowe, 2025 Graduand
“Mary Andrews College has a solid reputation for its theology and application. There is also flexibility of course structure and options for when and where study happens.”
Ann, 2021 Graduand
“MAC has equipped me for ministry in pastoral care skills, a deeper knowledge and love of God through studying the Bible and applying it to my life.”
Carolyn Hallam, 2025 Graduand
At Mary Andrews College, we believe good theology is robust in truth, relevant to daily life, and accessible to every Christian person.
We know, from Scripture, that when we study his word, we find an invitation to fall more deeply in love with him. When we consider the gospel, the death and resurrection of Jesus, it’s this love that not only transforms our lives but spills out into the lives of those around us.
Good theology transforms how you live
We've held this conviction since 1891. Our namesake Mary Andrews, who served as Principal for over 20 years, said:
“The measure of what you can do for the world will be simply what you let God do with yourself.”
More recently, our current Principal, Dr Laurel Moffatt wrote,
“Theology is for all of God’s people. We all have ‘words about God’; our shared task is to ensure those words are good and right, reflecting His character and guiding us into wise, joyful obedience.”
