Supporting Student Success
Food insecurity is prevalent on college campuses in the United States and abroad. At Tougaloo College, we're committed to ensuring every student has access to essential resources for academic success.
The Wisconsin HOPE Lab conducted the largest national survey assessing the basic needs security of 43,000 university students. This study revealed that
36% of university students were food insecure
in the 30 days preceding the survey.
The Partnership for a Healthy Mississippi formed The College and University Anti-Hunger Alliance of Mississippi, and in 2018, Tougaloo College joined this alliance to better fortify our dedication to academic achievement with the creation of the Student Support Pantry in 2019.
In addition to providing food to our students, we also provide
personal hygiene items, laundry supplies, and school supplies
through our Tougaloo Cares initiative.
What We Provide
Comprehensive support services to help students focus on their academic success.
Free for Students
Food & Nutrition
Essential food items including non-perishables, fresh produce, and meal options to ensure students have access to nutritious food.
Canned goods and non-perishables
Fresh fruits and vegetables
Snacks and quick meals
Special dietary accommodations

Personal Hygiene Items
Essential personal care products to help students maintain their health and well-being while pursuing their education.
Toothpaste and toothbrushes

How You Can Help
Support Our Mission
Throughout the year, we conduct campus-wide drives to stock the pantry. Our enthusiastic faculty, staff, alumni, community members, and various donors help ensure we can provide needed items to our students.
Donate Items
Contribute non-perishable food, hygiene products, and school supplies during our campus drives.
Monetary Donations
Make a financial contribution to help us purchase essential items for students in need.
Volunteer
Join our community of volunteers helping to organize and distribute resources to students.
