Why research?
Research is an essential activity for staff and postgraduate students at Excelsia. High quality research generates knowledge that, in turn, informs teaching and professional practice.
Staff members engage in research as a way of contributing to knowledge in their own discipline and remaining up to date with current ideas. Consistent with the vision and mission of Excelsia to provide excellence in Christian higher education, research by staff members often includes a Christian focus. Specifically, staff research includes projects that integrate Christian values and perspectives within their disciplinary area to the benefit of both the Christian and wider communities.
Postgraduate students normally study research methods and conduct research projects as part of their degrees. By undertaking research, post-graduate students are not only learning how to be lifelong learners, but they are also contributing to contemporary knowledge. As such, they are emerging as members of the scholarly community.
