From trips running hourly every day to whole day experiences along tunnels, open water and caverns. There’s something for everyone at Dudley Canal & Caverns
DAILY & WEEKLY TRIPS
THE UNDERGROUND EXPERIENCE
Our Underground Experience runs every hour from 10am – Monday to Sunday
Jump on board and and discover a magical underground world which dates back 428 million years.
Enjoy sound and light shows, historic recreations and informative commentary delivered by your knowledgeable skipper. Learn about the material which was mined here and how it shaped the Industrial Revolution and advances in canal building. Marvel at how tropical sea-beds worked their way up through the earth to deposit amazing and unique fossils in our caverns.
The Underground Experience last 45 minutes – with free exhibition and coffee shop right on the Canalside.

TUNNEL TOTS
Join us for a short trip through Lord Wards Tunnel, perfect for little ones under 5, sing songs, learn Makaton and listen to stories, as we take an underground trip designed just for toddlers.
Back on dry land, why not extend your stay with Dudley Canal & Caverns special partnership with Adventure Street on the Go – the premier role play experience in the Black Country, your little ones can pretend to be mechanics, police officers, hair stylists and much more.
Tunnel Tots boat operates most Wednesdays and Fridays throughout the year and is designed for under fives with their parents or carers.
Tunnel Tot boats last 20 minutes and depart at 10am
Booking online is highly recommended as these boats sell fast!

SPECIAL & EXTENDED TRIPS
TWO TUNNEL TOUR – THE EXTENDED JOURNEY
Enjoy a relaxing trip along the Dudley Number 2 Canal. Our most in-depth tour, this is the full experience, open water, locks, caverns, tunnels and basins. This is not to be missed.
Your trip boat sets out from The Portal building through the Dudley Tunnel then down a striking flight of locks at the Parkhead Conservation Area, along the Dudley number 2 Canal before arriving at Bumble Hole Nature Reserve and the historic Cobbs Engine House, a brief rest stop before we make our way back, guided by our expert skippers who know this area like the back of their hand!
Our Two Tunnel Tour runs on selected weekend dates through the year
Tours depart at 10am and last approximately 6 hours
Take advantage of our Canalside coffee shop before and after your trip.

DUDLEY TUNNEL TRIP – THE TUNNEL EXPLORER
Marvel at the engineering feat which is the Dudley Tunnel, second longest navigable canal tunnel in the UK.
Our guided trip will point out the underwater locks, the millions of hand made bricks and you will even get the opportunity to have a go at “Legging” the traditional way boatmen travelled through these tunnels.
Starting at the Portal Building you’ll journey through our tunnel network before embarking on a journey through this spectacular tunnel.
The Dudley Tunnel Trip runs on select weekends through the year
Tours depart at 10am and last 2 hours – including return transportation

OPEN WATER CRUISES – TRANQUIL TRIPPING
Join us for an exciting 4-hour trip onto the open water of the canals around Dudley and Tipton. Perfect for those who prefer not to go underground.
Discover the fascinating industrial heritage and surprising wildlife of our local waterways on this skipper guided tour.
You’ll travel through two sets of locks on the cruise with the opportunity to jump off and have a go. For your comfort we have the option of refreshments and toilets on board.
The Open Water Cruises run on select weekends through the year
Tours depart at 10am and last approximately 4 hours
Perfect for those who prefer the open air and open water

PRIVATE HIRE BOATS
Our Function Rooms and Boats can all be hired privately and we will work with you to tailor your requirements into a memorable event. Refreshments can be added to your booking and served on some of our boats or prior to you boarding. We can also organise team building activities for you – for example reviving the traditional art of “legging” through the tunnels or undertaking canal clean up projects. We also have Canal Safari sheets for younger guests.
