Primary care physicians (PCPs) are a critical part of staying healthy, and it's important to find a PCP you trust - particularly if you have complex health issues that need to be monitored and treated. Some reasons to choose an internal medicine provider include:
Care for Complex Medical Needs
Internal medicine physicians specialize in primary care, and some have additional training in specialties. Internal medicine doctors help patients with complex issues, particularly those with multiple medical diagnoses or uncontrolled health problems. Because of the variety of their experience with in-office and hospital care, internal medicine providers also might be the best option for someone struggling to get the correct diagnosis for a health issue.

Care of Adults and Children
Many of our physicians have completed combined training in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics (often known as Med-Peds). These doctors have completed combined training in the care of adults and children, and care for adults and children in both the hospital and the clinic. Med-Peds doctors are particularly specialized in the care of adolescents, adults with congenital illnesses, developmental disabilities, and other life-spanning health challenges.
