Chandler School’s Lower School Music Program is a lively and enriching experience that cultivates a love for music, confidence, teamwork, and the joy of performing on stage. The program emphasizes developing musical skills through singing, instrument playing, movement, and music theory, all within a supportive environment. A highlight of the program is the opportunity for K-5 students to participate in two annual concerts: the Holiday Concert and the Spring Sing. These performances showcase the talents and progress of all K-5 students. During these concerts, students present a diverse repertoire that reflects what they’ve learned throughout the year. Whether it’s festive holiday songs or vibrant springtime melodies, each concert celebrates music and community.

3-5 Program
The K-2 General Music program is designed to be fun and educational, laying the groundwork for a lifelong love of music and fostering creativity and confidence in every child. The program focuses on building foundational music skills through various engaging activities. Students explore fundamental musical concepts such as rhythm, pitch, and dynamics through singing, clapping, and playing simple percussive instruments. In a supportive and nurturing environment, students are encouraged to express themselves creatively while learning to listen, follow directions, and work together.
Chandler's 3-5 general music program is designed to inspire a deeper appreciation for music while nurturing each student’s confidence and performance skills. Students explore music theory, vocal technique, and instrumental skills more in-depth. As students progress, they engage with more complete rhythms, melodies, and harmonies, further developing their musical literacy and performance abilities. A unique feature is the opportunity for students to perform solos during school concerts. These solo opportunities allow students to showcase their individualized talents and build confidence in front of an audience. In addition to solo performances, students participate in group singing, instrument ensembles, and interactive music activities that encourage teamwork and collaboration.
