Video Games Museum
The
Video Games Museum
, located in the heart of Heraklion, Crete, invites you to discover the magic, evolution, and cultural significance of video games through a unique, interactive experience.
With hundreds of authentic consoles, thousands of physical games, and specially designed thematic spaces, the museum tells the story of gaming as a technological, artistic, and social phenomenon.
What's On
Temporary Exhibition
Minecraft in Ancient Greece
At the Video Games Museum, Minecraft becomes a bridge between digital play and ancient history. Through a permanent interactive station, visitors explore virtual reconstructions of Ancient Greek cities, monuments, and landscapes, discovering history through hands-on exploration and creative gameplay. This experience highlights how video games can function as powerful tools for education, imagination, and cultural engagement.
Skaramazuzu
Skaramazuzu is presented at the Video Games Museum as a contemporary example of narrative-driven game design. Defined by its hand-crafted visual style and surreal atmosphere, the game places emphasis on storytelling, emotional depth, and slow-paced exploration. Rather than relying on action or speed, Skaramazuzu invites players into a reflective experience focused on observation, interpretation, and connection with its world and characters.
Reky
Reky is featured at the Video Games Museum as a representative case of minimalist puzzle game design. Built around architectural logic, clean geometry, and visual clarity, the game challenges players through carefully constructed spatial problems. By stripping away excess elements, Reky demonstrates how simplicity in form can lead to complex thinking and a deeply rewarding gameplay experience.
