Jinyan Cao, M.D., Ph.D., M.S., is a Staff Scientist in the Mechanistic Toxicology Branch, Division of Translational Toxicology (DTT) of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS). Her primary role is to detect the EDCs effect on neuroendocrinology, neurodevelopment and social behavior and reveal the underlying mechanisms of EDCs effect.
Jinyan received her M.D. from Tianjin Medical University and M.S. in Human Anatomy, Histology and Embryology from Capital University of Medicine. She finished her Ph.D. in program of molecular and cellular biology from University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and worked on revealing the molecular mechanisms through which TCDD interferes with estrogen regulation of prolactin gene expression
in vivo
and
in vitro
. She finished her postdoctoral training with Dr. Heather Patisaul. She also worked on sex dimorphic electrophysiological properties of medial spiny neurons (MSNs) in striatum brain region with/without neonatal hormone and agonists exposure, and subtype differences in electrophysiological properties by using dopamine receptor (DR) transgenic rats and mice.
