Organ & Tissue Donation
You can help give the gift of life by choosing to become an organ or tissue donor. One organ donor can help save up to eight lives, and one tissue donation can save or improve the lives of more than 75 people.
The decision to become an organ or tissue donor does not interfere with the healthcare you receive—saving your life is your NYU Langone doctor’s first priority.
VIDEO: More than 8,000 people in the New York City metro area are currently on the organ transplant waitlist. Our Transplant Institute is committed to helping those in need of a new heart, liver, kidney, or lungs.
All people can be considered as potential organ, tissue, and eye donors at the time of death. Organs and tissues are distributed through federally or state-authorized organ and tissue banks, and donating your organs does not cost your family any money.
