State Collection Development Funding
At the heart of Nevada’s commitment to equitable library services is dedicated funding that strengthens public library collections and brings vital resources to even the most remote corners of the state. Through the
State Collection Development Grant Program
, established by the Nevada State Legislature in 1995, libraries—especially those in rural communities—receive crucial financial support based on local spending for collection development. This funding model (NRS 378.087) ensures that smaller libraries benefit proportionately more, empowering them to build diverse and responsive collections.
Rural Bookmobile Funding
For communities where brick-and-mortar libraries may be out of reach, Nevada also funds rural bookmobiles to deliver books, media, and services directly to residents. Legislative support for
Rural Bookmobile Funding
sustains three bookmobiles—the Elko County Bookmobile, the Humboldt County Bookmobile, and the Lincoln County Bookmobile—helping to ensure that no Nevadan is left without access to library resources, regardless of geography.
