Ghanaian Member of Parliament Discusses Bahamas-Ghana Investment Opportunities
NASSAU, The Bahamas -- The Orange Economy Unit's Ghana Relations Desk of the Ministry of Economic Affairs hosted a Bahamas/Ghana-Ahanta West Information & Investment Symposium at the Small Business Development Centre, April 15, 2026.
Discussing investment opportunities was Ghanaian Member of Parliament for Ahanta West, the Hon. Mavis Kuukua Bissue.
The first female MP for the Ahanta West Constituency of Ghana's western region, Ms. Bissue presented several ways Bahamians can invest in Ghana especially in the area she represents.
She discussed in detail how investments can be made in the areas of tourism, fishing, farming and mining.
Speaking on behalf of the Chairman of the Bahamas Trade Commission and Vice-President of the Senate, Sen. Barry Griffin, Glenisha Albury explained that the Orange Economy Unit headed by Angelique McKay, has been an important collaborator in advancing new and emerging sectors within the nation’s economy, which includes the Bahamas-Ghana partnership.
Ms. Albury said Africa represents one of the most significant and strategic growth frontiers for The Bahamas.
She said, “It is a region of immense opportunity, shared heritage, and increasing economic dynamism. Within that broader strategy, Ghana has emerged as a key priority jurisdiction.”
Ms. Albury noted that over the past five years, The Bahamas has undertaken at least three official trade missions to Ghana.
“Through these engagements, we have built a strong and respectful relationship with the Government of Ghana. More importantly, we are now actively strengthening connections with the Ghanaian private sector.”
She said The Bahamas stands ready to bring its strengths to Ghana in the areas of:
• Professional services—legal, compliance, consulting, and financial advisory
• Tourism expertise—a globally recognized industry that can support development and innovation
• Growing digital and creative sectors—aligned with the work of the Orange Economy Unit
• And the Financial services sector, which remains one of the most sophisticated in the region.
Ms. Albury added that The Bahamas is equally interested in what Ghana offers in the areas of:
• The importation of raw materials to support industrial and manufacturing activity
• The importation of finished goods produced by Ghanaian businesses
• And the development of supply chains that connect Africa directly to the Caribbean.
