Do you own marketable securities (such as stocks, bonds, mutual fund shares) that have appreciated in value that you are ready to sell? If so, and if you’ve owned the securities for at least a year, you can gift them to Hillbrook and earn a tax-deductible donation equal to its full current market value. You will not pay any capital gains taxes on the appreciation over your original purchase or basis price. Consider this option and maximize your giving dollars! Pledges, which can be made at any time, give donors the flexibility to pay in installments or in one lump sum before May 31. Families receive participation credit once the pledge is made.

Gifts of personal property are accepted if they can serve a worthwhile purpose for the school, can be sold for cash, or can offset a previously planned expense. A description of the item donated is provided to the donor by the Advancement Office. However, the donor must determine the value of the item for tax purposes.
