Department of Textile Materials Engineering
As the Head of the Department of Textile Materials Engineering (TME), I am honored to welcome you to the dynamic world of textile materials at Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX). We live in an era of advanced materials and smart textiles, reshaping industries and societies. Textile materials lead the way in innovation, spanning sustainable fibers, high-performance composites, biomedical uses, and wearable technologies.
The Textile Materials Engineering Department at BUTEX was founded to address these evolving global needs by integrating materials science principles with practical expertise in textiles. Our program offers students a solid grounding in fibers, polymers, composites, nanomaterials, and functional textiles, integrating theoretical knowledge with practical experience in our state-of-the-art laboratories. Our focus is on fostering creativity, innovation, and sustainability, equipping graduates to excel in various areas such as technical textiles, biotechnology, energy, environmental solutions, and smart material technologies.
Our greatest strength is our dedicated faculty members, who contribute global exposure, industry experience, and state-of-the-art research knowledge to the classroom and lab, and are our greatest asset. In addition to a stimulating learning environment, our students are urged to exercise critical thinking, collaborate with others, and grow as leaders, all of which prepare them for success in business and research across the globe. To make a significant contribution to textile science and engineering, the Department of TME has been developing since its founding as a thriving community of researchers, faculty, and students. In the future, we hope to introduce advanced graduate programs (M.Sc. as well as Ph.D.) and fortify partnerships with business, academic institutions, and research facilities worldwide.
I warmly invite you to explore our department, meet our faculty and students, and discover the opportunities we offer. Together, let us shape the future of textile materials and contribute to building a more sustainable, innovative, and technologically advanced world.
Welcome to the Department of Textile Materials Engineering-where science meets innovation, and textiles meet the future!
