Janine Bates holds a B.S. in Secondary Education Mathematics from Alabama A&M University and an M.S. in Secondary Education Mathematics from Jacksonville State University. She is currently pursuing her M.A. in Christian Studies from Luther Rice College and Seminary. Janine serves as a 10th and 12th grade Bible teacher and has been part of the GAC community for three years.
At the beginning of her college career, Janine pursued a degree in Electrical Engineering, hoping to one day become an engineer. However, the Lord's plan was different. At the beginning of junior year, Janine felt a call from the Lord to pursue education as a major. She did just that. Spending the first twelve years of her teaching career teaching high school mathematics at public schools, she felt the Lord calling her in another different path: to get her masters in Christian Studies to ultimately become a bible teacher.
We are grateful for the way the Lord has opened opportunities for Janine to become a Spartan. One of her favorite moments at GAC includes her time working with a team of staff and students to plan GAC's 2024 Black History Month Chapel. She describes it as a special experience, allowing students to highlight aspects of African American culture and celebrate the beauty of GAC's diversity.
