Brooklyn Public Safety
The Department of Public Safety is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors on the LIU Brooklyn campus. We provided safety and security services by foot, 24 hours a day 365 days a year. Public Safety Officers on the LIU Brooklyn campus are licensed by the State of New York and are trained, certified and registered pursuant to the New York State Security Guard Act of 1992.
The Department of Public Safety is concerned with the welfare and safety of all members of the campus community and their guests. The activities of the Department of Public Safety are enhanced by its close relationship with the 88th Precinct, who shares the responsibility of maintaining law and order on the campus. This agency often notifies the Department of any off-campus arrest involving members of our campus community if there is a perceived threat to the welfare of the other members.
