Transition Program
Our Transition Program operates for Year 6 students entering into Year 7 and involves a number of activities in the second half of the year including time at the college. The program includes in Year 7, our Peer Support Program and Year 7 Camp.
TASTER DAY (Catholic Education Week)
On this day, all Catholic schools within the Southern Deanery will gather to celebrate the mission and ethos of Catholic Education.
A Mass will be held in the Mother of Good Counsel Church, Innisfail.  Students will have lunch at Good Counsel Primary School before breaking into groups for afternoon activities.  Students in Year 6 (and Year 5) will visit the college where they will sample subjects on offer through rotational activities.  Students thoroughly enjoy this experience and are very proud of the take-home items they create on the day.
ORIENTATION DAY (Term 4)
Students will be offered the full secondary school experience as well as the opportunity to make connections with other students.
All visiting students will receive an information pack that includes important information to assist with the smooth transition into secondary school. Students will meet our dedicated and caring teaching staff, tour the college and sample the various subjects on offer through rotational mini-classes.
Parents/carers are not expected to attend Orientation Day but are welcome to stay for a tour and morning tea with the principal, concluding around 10 am.
Morning tea and lunch will be provided.
SUPPORTED TRANSITION PROGRAM (for identified students)
Students requiring additional support as identified during the interview process will be invited to take part in the Supported Transition Program. This program consists of three 2.5-hour sessions that will be held over three consecutive weeks in Term 4.
