Hackley is a place where faculty and staff entrust their own children to experience the special community that defines the School. It is a cherished home for generations of families. We asked community members who hold multiple roles on the Hilltop to reflect on what “Hackley as Home” means to them. Associate Teacher Program Associate Teachers (ATs) hired to work in Hackley’s Lower School support the differentiated model that we endorse as a School. ATs may range from a recent college graduate to someone who is working on or has already received their master’s degree. Our Associate Teachers are placed with Lead Teachers who offer guidance, understanding and partnership. Collegiality, collaboration and community spirit are expectations of all members of the faculty and are modeled in the relationship between Leads and Associates. The Associate Teacher Program is considered to be a teacher training program in that all ATs are expected to work toward becoming a Lead Teacher and seek to gain the skill set to be highly effective in this role, whether at Hackley or elsewhere.
