. Site editors are trained on how to use the CMS including editing and building pages,
along with best practices for managing user-friendly, accessible web content. This
website is dedicated to supporting new and existing site editors.

How to Become a New Site Editor
A
site editor
is someone who is responsible for creating, editing and maintaining the CMS site.
Any employee at the University of Wyoming (full or part-time) is eligible to become
a CMS site editor once they have completed a comprehensive training course. This training
ensures editors understand how to build accessible, on-brand and up-to-date web pages.
It is mandatory for the site editors to complete the training in order to gain access
to Modern Campus CMS. This training takes approximately 3-4 hours to complete.
Please Note
: Students may only become site editors if there is an
existing
, full-time employee currently managing the website.

What is a Site Owner?
Site Owners are responsible for approving new site editor access to a UW website once
the site editor is fully trained.
Once you complete your training, you will be prompted to request access to the CMS
using your UW credentials. After you have gained access to Modern Campus CMS platform,
you are now ready to build your webpage. There are several tools available to site
editors to help create an effective and beautiful website.

Once you become a site editor, you will receive dedicated support from the Institutional
Marketing web team, who serves 400+ site editors across campus. CMS editing is a self-serving
platform, meaning we have set up dozens of tutorials to allow you to independently
troubleshoot your site when questions come up. And if you get stuck, we're here to
help!

Site editors are an essential part of maintaining the UW website. The most successful
site editors are those who maximize the available resources we have created for you
including an extensive tutorial library. As always, if you need immediate assistance,

We have created

to help site editors learn and reference while building their websites. If you're
in a rush, try our search tool here!
Broken website links are a major problem within our pages which cause a broken experience
for our site visitors, including students who rely on the UW website to find information.
Help us manage these broken links by periodically viewing your broken link reports
and correcting any broken links that exist on your site.
A few minutes a month can really help maintain a strong website for our campus community!

If you have already completed CMS training, you can request access to a site at anytime
which will be approved by the
site owner

Thinking about reorganizing your site, or simply rebuilding your pages? A great way
to begin is by attending a CMS virtual open lab. These one-on-one appointments give
you a chance to a speak with one of our experiences web team members who can give
you pointers on preparing your site for an overhaul or just simply helping you organize
content on a page that makes sense to your site visitors.

While not a common function of site editors, some site editors may require the need
to build a brand new site inside our CMS. This process requires approval from CMS
administrators who will thoroughly assess if a standalone website is needed a or a
section can simply be built under an existing CMS site.

ready to assist! These professionals have already been onboarded and educated on UW's
CMS and can be hired directly by your department to build our select pages or entire
sites.

Website editing requires knowledge of accessible website content. UW is subject to
federal laws surrounding digital accessibility and therefore must adhere to WGAC 2.1
accessibility standards on any web page within the UW domain. Learn how you can educate
yourself on website accessibility to ensure we are providing an equitable experience
for all website users.

If you or someone in your department is unable to make edits to your website due to
maternity/paternity leave, extended time out or your department is currently without
a site editor, we can help! UW's FAST team provides low-cost website editing assistance
for department who need temporary website support.

supported by UWIT. These are ideal for data-heavy or highly-customized sites that
cannot be accommodated inside our system.
