Swansea University provides a gateway to a bank of over 20,000 highly talented students and graduates to fill part-time vacancies, graduate roles and work experience placements.
Placements and Internships
Whether you want to develop the future of your organisation, or have a project you need completing, we have a work experience programme to suit your needs:
Funded Internships
Short-term, extracurricular opportunities, ranging from two to ten weeks, that can run throughout the year and are offered on a full or part-time basis. Funding towards the salary of the student or graduate is available.
Placements as part of a course
From final-year projects to work experience modules, most of our students will have industry experience as part of their course. These are usually short-term, part-time projects managed in collaboration with a course supervisor.
Year In Industry
Many of our courses offer students a year in industry as part of a degree programme. This typically sits between the second and final year of an undergraduate degree. These placements are course-specific and relate to a student’s degree discipline.
We arrange placements and internships for students and graduates with wide-ranging career aspirations from all disciplines and all levels.
Why offer work experience?
It'll benefit your organisation
Work experience can introduce you to the latest talent who can help support your organisation on short or fixed term project work. Offering specialist knowledge and an external viewpoint and giving the business the chance to see potential employees in action before making hiring decisions.
It benefits our students
By providing work experience your organisation can help our students apply and develop their knowledge and skills in a real world environment which will in turn build their confidence and professional network.
What makes a suitable placement?
An ideal placement would be one which:
Provides an opportunity for students to apply and develop their knowledge and skills in the workplace.
Enables the student to assume an appropriate degree of responsibility.
Allows the student to take ownership of their development with guidance from experts.
Maximises the student’s contribution to the department and organisation.
What funding is available?
Our funded internships are paid in line with the National Living Wage Foundation. Internships can vary in duration, depending on your businesses needs and requirements, however, can be for a maximum of 420 hours. Employers are welcome to provide additional funding for internships if they wish.
n.b. Please
get in touch
to discuss your funding requirements before you start advertising your placements. Funding is only available for students currently enrolled at Swansea University or those that have completed their course within the last 15 months.
Graduate roles and part-time vacancies
Over 5000 students graduate from Swansea University each year so whether you have graduate opportunities based in Wales, the UK or worldwide, we can help you find the right candidate for your organisation.
Furthermore, alongside their studies our students are always on the lookout for suitable part-time jobs to supplement their income and help them gain experience so if you have a vacancy you'd like to share we can help.
