Health Equity - Committed to Our Community
Giving back
Every year, Beacon contributes to our communities in a wide variety of ways. We do this by researching which health issues most impact the people we serve, providing for those in need, working closely with business partners and more. Beacon is proud to give back to our communities to make them better places to live and work for us all.
Community Impact (CHNA)
Beacon Community Impact partners with organizations in our region to improve the holistic health and well-being of families and individuals in our communities based on results from the
Community Health Needs Assessment
.
Helping Hands
Beacon supports our associates’ volunteer passions and interests outside of work. In cooperation with Acts of Service, we offer our associates paid time off to volunteer for area not-for-profits. By volunteering during work hours, associates gain flexibility if they might not be able to do so because of work, family and home schedules. They can use the Acts of Service website to browse opportunities and track volunteer hours for both paid volunteer time and personal volunteering.
Mental and Behavioral Health Care
Beacon’s Mental and Behavioral Health Care services, including inpatient psychiatric care at
Epworth Hospital
, work with you and your loved ones to help you find your path to emotional wellness.
Financial assistance (Charity Care)
Beacon is dedicated to making health care services accessible — and affordable — to all of our patients.
COVID-19 response
When the pandemic hit, Beacon leaders and associates at every level stepped up to find new ways to continue providing safe, exceptional care while supporting our frontline workers.

Health professional education & research
One of the ways Beacon continues delivering the very best care to our communities — and beyond — is through a nonstop commitment to learning. Trauma education
To help our communities stay prepared for emergencies, Beacon educates physicians, nurses, allied health professionals and the public in various topics of trauma care. We also conduct outreach programs that teach injury prevention and host an annual Trauma Symposium for area trauma clinicians.
Certified Athletic trainers
Beacon certified athletic trainers are located in local high schools and colleges to provide emergency care, evaluate and treat acute and chronic injuries, make referrals and support the healthy development of all our student-athletes with exceptional, connected care.
Life support training
Medical professionals needing certification and community members who want to be prepared for an emergency can learn first aid, CPR and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).
