GAC is excited to share an important and encouraging update regarding our theatre program. We are pleased to announce that Sam Casey '15 will assume the role of High School Theatre Director.
Mr. Casey brings strong preparation and experience to this role. He holds a B.A. in Acting from Pace University (2019), with an emphasis in collaborative work, and an M.Ed. in Theatre Education from Columbus State University (2023). He also serves on the Executive Board of the Georgia Theatre Conference. Many of our families already know him through his work as Middle School Theatre Director, and we are excited for him to build on those relationships as he establishes a meaningful and developmentally appropriate high school program.
Mr. Casey shared the following with us:
“I am honored to be stepping into my new role on our campus and in our community. I feel very fortunate to be inheriting a program that has been led with such outstanding grace, love, and care for our students. As we look ahead, I am grateful for the opportunity to work with this talented group of students once again. Together, we will continue to shape a theatre program that is uniquely suited to the high school experience, encourages artistic growth, and fosters each student’s relationship with Christ. Theatre at GAC has a strong legacy across all three school levels, and I am eager to continue supporting our programs and theatre students of all ages in my new role.”
Mrs. Kaitlyn Thames will step away from her role as High School Theatre Director at the end of this school year to focus more fully on her family. Kaitlyn has led with exceptional care, creativity, and commitment, and her impact on our students and program has been both meaningful and lasting. We are deeply grateful for the way she has shaped GAC Theatre and for her investment in our community.
We are confident in this transition for several reasons. First, there will be strong continuity in the GAC Theatre program. Courses, productions, and extracurricular opportunities will remain familiar for the coming year, ensuring stability for students. At the same time, this transition provides a natural opportunity to continue strengthening our High School Theatre experience—one that challenges students artistically while supporting their growth as individuals made in God’s image.
It is also worth noting that GAC Theatre has a rich and steady legacy—he will be only the fourth High School Theatre Director in our school’s history. That continuity matters, and we believe this transition honors that legacy while positioning us well for the future.
Finally, we want to emphasize that his role will continue to support the broader K–12 theatre program, helping ensure alignment and strength across all divisions. We are grateful for the way this community champions the arts and the students who bring them to life.
