An International Business Degree prepares students to excel in business across borders and in different economic environments, cultures, and under different laws.
The degree prepares the student for the global environment and builds a perspective that allows them to be culturally competent and able to successfully conduct business across cultural and geographic borders. Studying international business highlights the importance of seeing global markets, people, and economies in a personalized way that appreciates unique needs, unique wants, and opportunities. While some students build careers from their home country, the degree is especially attractive to those who want to go abroad and experience the lifestyles and consumer behaviors of different cultures. This experience gives them the knowledge to help companies in their home country to better serve the markets of other countries.
Why Study International Business?
With so many companies becoming multi-national, global players, today’s demand for international business prowess is unprecedented.
To survive in the global environment companies must have personnel that are savvy in different cultures to achieve economies of scale, geographical diversification, and cultural relevance with their products and services. Knowledge of a foreign land (host country) is extremely valuable to a company with no experience outside their own borders. An adventurous career awaits the student who is interested in doing business globally.
International Business at Galen
A Galen graduate in international business is not just knowledgeable about cross border operations but is culturally competent. A degree in International Business from Galen University means that the graduate is fully prepared to begin their journey in one of many careers in the international business environment. Some will find opportunities in the import market, while others will hone their skills in finding international markets for Belizean products. Others will pursue graduate studies abroad and find varied opportunities in international business and trade. One of the features of the Galen International Business Degree is the inclusion of an internship with a local firm or organization that conducts international business. This internship provides opportunities to explore and learn more about international business in a real world setting.
