National Security Education Day 2026: HKSYU Scholars Advance Cultural Security through Interdisciplinary Research
In support of National Security Education Day 2026, Hong Kong Shue Yan University organised a thematic sharing session titled “National Security Education Day 2026 – Safeguarding Cultural Security through Research”.
Hong Kong Shue Yan University Marks 55th Anniversary and 20 Years as a University
To commemorate its 55th anniversary and 20 years since attaining university status, Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) has launched a year-long anniversary programme centred on community engagement and social impact. Guided by its motto “Cultivating virtues of benevolence; broadening horizon and knowledge,” the programme underscores the University’s Confucian heritage and enduring commitment to benevolent education. Through academic exchange, civic initiatives and community engagement, HKSYU seeks to deepen its connections with the wider public, while advancing its mission of nurturing well-rounded individuals equipped to meet evolving societal needs.
HKSYU Service Stars Hold Inaugural Event at “Good Mansion” to Strengthen Neighborhood Cohesion
To mark the 55th anniversary of Hong Kong Shue Yan University’s founding and the 20th anniversary of its university title, HKSYU has launched the “HKSYU Service Stars” Volunteer Team. Comprising staff, students, and alumni, the team embodies the University’s commitment to giving back to the community through meaningful action.

HKSYU Seminar Highlights Integrated Strategies to Inclusive Education
The Department of Counselling and Psychology at Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) hosted the “Inclusion and Wellness: Integrated Strategies for SEN Support” seminar and workshop. Several experts shared practical insights on how to understand and support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), aiming to enhance their mental health and promote inclusive education. Nearly 300 educators and parents attended.
HKSYU Receives QESS Funding to Build New Industrial Attachment Platform
Hong Kong Shue Yan University has received grants totalling nearly HK$4.9 million from the Education Bureau’s Quality Enhancement Support Scheme (QESS) to develop a one-stop cloud-based resource platform for industrial attachment (OCRPIA). This platform will consolidate internship and employment resources across academic and administrative departments, along with student portfolios, to enhance collaboration with external partners and strengthen students’ work-readiness and employability.
HKSYU Faculty Present Research Achievements at RGC Workshop
Four faculty members from Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) presented their research at a Workshop and Poster Session on the Competitive Research Funding Schemes (CRFS) for the Local Self-financing Degree Sector organised by the Research Grants Council (RGC) on 24 November 2025.

HKSYU at ICH June Summit on Cultural Heritage
The "ICH June" Intangible Cultural Heritage Summit was held at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum in Shatin. As a co-organizing institution for this event, HKSYU senior management, including Academic Vice President Professor Selina Chan Ching, Assistant Vice President Dr Lee Ka-man, Deputy Head of the Department of History Dr Pang Suk-man, scholars, students, alumni, and representatives from media, public relations and academic circles attended the summit to discuss the "Development in protection and protection in development" of intangible cultural heritage.

From Hong Kong to Silicon Valley: HKSYU Team FishGuard’s CUPP Journey
FishGuard, the student entrepreneurship team nominated by Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) for the Cyberport University Partnership Programme (CUPP), has successfully gained admission. Last summer, three team members headed to Draper University in Silicon Valley, United States, for a Boot Camp. On 6 September 2025, the student team from the Department of Law and Business—comprising Dhillon Fatehkaran Singh, LIN Ruoqi, and WONG Nga-yin—earned notable recognition by securing second runner-up in paper writing and first runner-up in paper presentation at the Corporate Governance Paper Competition and Presentation Awards 2025, organised by the Hong Kong Chartered Governance Institute (HKCGI).
HKSYU Academics Develop Mobile App to Help Muslim Students Find Halal Food
Hong Kong Shue Yan University has welcomed a growing number of non-Chinese speaking students from diverse religious backgrounds, including Muslim students, in recent years. When Dr Philip LEE Tin-yun, Associate Head of the Department of Economics and Finance, learned that Muslim students were finding it difficult to access halal food in Hong Kong, he partnered with Mr Bosco TSIN Hingyan, Lecturer in the same department, to develop Islamic Compass HK. The mobile application helps users locate halal restaurants, prayer rooms, and hotels across the city, supporting Muslim students as they adapt to local life.
HKSYU and Antiquities Office Host 3D Dinosaur Fossil Workshop
The Antiquities and Monuments Office and Hong Kong Shue Yan University co-hosted a workshop using 3D scanning technology in paleontological research, the workshop allowed the public to experience the fusion of cultural relics and technology, while also understanding the application of 3D scanning in conservation and research.

HKSYU Flag-raising Team Receives Training from PLA Hong Kong Garrison
Established in the 2022/23 academic year, Hong Kong Shue Yan University’s Flag-raising Team is responsible for conducting flag-raising ceremonies on important campus occasions.
To strengthen member training, the University invited three personnel from the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Hong Kong Garrison to visit the campus on 15 March 2026, delivering training in flag raising techniques and Chinese-style foot drill. Dr Chow Tak-sang, Vice President (University Administration), and Ms Yip Sau-yin, Associate Vice President (Student Affairs), attended the session and interacted with the visiting personnel.
Empowering Leaders: HKSYU Student Ambassador Programme Inauguration
HKSYU held the inauguration ceremony for the fifth cohort of the Student Ambassador Programme. The event was co-hosted by President Dr Hu Fai-chung; Dr Jason Chow, Vice President (University Administration); Ms Sophia Yip, Associate Vice President (Student Affairs); Mr Calvin Lam, alumnus of the Department of Journalism and Communication and mentor of the Student Ambassadors; together with Student Ambassadors from the fourth and fifth cohorts.
