National Service Scheme
(NSS)
The National Service Scheme (NSS), launched in 1969, is a government-sponsored public service program under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. It aims to develop the personality and character of students through voluntary community service. The motto, “Not Me, But You,” reflects the spirit of selfless service and encourages youth to contribute towards societal growth.
Since its launch with 37 universities and around 40,000 volunteers, NSS has grown significantly across India. Today, it spans 657 universities, 51 +2 Councils/Directorates, 20,669 colleges and technical institutions, and 11,988 senior secondary schools, positively impacting over 7.4 crore students nationwide.

The National Service Scheme at Bennett University (NSS BU) is committed to creating a meaningful and lasting impact in society. As a community of dedicated and socially responsible volunteers, we believe that youth have the power to bring positive transformation when they actively engage with the challenges faced by society.
While many organisations conduct activities such as cleanliness drives, plantation campaigns, and health check-up camps, NSS Bennett believes that true social service goes beyond simply organising events. These activities are important, but our approach focuses on creating a deeper impact by addressing the root causes of social issues and encouraging people to become more aware and responsible citizens.
Our initiatives promote awareness, encourage participation, and inspire individuals to take small yet meaningful steps towards building a better society. Through continuous engagement with communities, we aim to foster empathy, responsibility, and a sense of collective progress.
Through initiatives focused on education, environmental sustainability, social awareness, and community engagement, our volunteers work to make a tangible difference in people’s lives. Each activity undertaken by NSS Bennett is driven by the intention to create real change, empower communities, and build a culture of service among the youth.
At NSS Bennett University, we strive to be trendsetters, not trend followers.
Community
Impact
NSS Bennett has led a series of impactful initiatives that directly benefit the community. Initiatives such as health camps and menstrual awareness sessions have played an important role in educating and supporting local residents while addressing critical health and social issues.
Our primary focus has always been on bringing students and the community together. One of our recent initiatives, Back to Blue: The Yamuna Cleanliness Drive, was conducted in collaboration with the Friends of Yamuna Foundation. The drive brought together NSS units from different colleges for a focused, hands-on effort to help restore the Yamuna River.
Through this initiative, volunteers promoted environmental responsibility, teamwork, and collective action, while upholding the core values of the National Service Scheme.

NSS BU has actively contributed to improving lives in villages, slums, and urban communities. Students have planted hundreds of trees, distributed clothing, supported elderly residents, and provided educational resources to underprivileged students. The club has also organised women empowerment programs, health and hygiene talks, mental well-being sessions, and guest lectures, making NSS BU a key platform for promoting social development, health, and community engagement among students.

By organizing cultural exchange programs and visits to several places Bharat Darshan fosters a sense of unity, celebrates diversity, and educates participants about the rich tapestry of Indian culture, heritage, and traditions, promoting national integration and harmony.

Youth Week and events like movie nights, open mic sessions, and treasure hunts enriched our experience. National Service Scheme
(NSS)
The National Service Scheme (NSS), launched in 1969, is a government-sponsored public service program under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. It aims to develop the personality and character of students through voluntary community service. The motto, “Not Me, But You,” reflects the spirit of selfless service and encourages youth to contribute towards societal growth.
Since its launch with 37 universities and around 40,000 volunteers, NSS has grown significantly across India. Today, it spans 657 universities, 51 +2 Councils/Directorates, 20,669 colleges and technical institutions, and 11,988 senior secondary schools, positively impacting over 7.4 crore students nationwide.

The National Service Scheme at Bennett University (NSS BU) is committed to creating a meaningful and lasting impact in society. As a community of dedicated and socially responsible volunteers, we believe that youth have the power to bring positive transformation when they actively engage with the challenges faced by society.
While many organisations conduct activities such as cleanliness drives, plantation campaigns, and health check-up camps, NSS Bennett believes that true social service goes beyond simply organising events. These activities are important, but our approach focuses on creating a deeper impact by addressing the root causes of social issues and encouraging people to become more aware and responsible citizens.
Our initiatives promote awareness, encourage participation, and inspire individuals to take small yet meaningful steps towards building a better society. Through continuous engagement with communities, we aim to foster empathy, responsibility, and a sense of collective progress.
Through initiatives focused on education, environmental sustainability, social awareness, and community engagement, our volunteers work to make a tangible difference in people’s lives. Each activity undertaken by NSS Bennett is driven by the intention to create real change, empower communities, and build a culture of service among the youth.

Community
Impact
NSS Bennett has led a series of impactful initiatives that directly benefit the community. Initiatives such as health camps and menstrual awareness sessions have played an important role in educating and supporting local residents while addressing critical health and social issues.
Our primary focus has always been on bringing students and the community together. One of our recent initiatives, Back to Blue: The Yamuna Cleanliness Drive, was conducted in collaboration with the Friends of Yamuna Foundation. The drive brought together NSS units from different colleges for a focused, hands-on effort to help restore the Yamuna River.
Through this initiative, volunteers promoted environmental responsibility, teamwork, and collective action, while upholding the core values of the National Service Scheme.

NSS BU has actively contributed to improving lives in villages, slums, and urban communities. Students have planted hundreds of trees, distributed clothing, supported elderly residents, and provided educational resources to underprivileged students. The club has also organised women empowerment programs, health and hygiene talks, mental well-being sessions, and guest lectures, making NSS BU a key platform for promoting social development, health, and community engagement among students.
