Student-Centered Research Instruction
The Department of Research is committed to excellence in delivering rigorous and innovative student-centered research instruction. Here, you will find innovative curriculum taught by experienced faculty from diverse disciplinary backgrounds. Designed to prepare you to complete research elements in your degree program–such as the Ph.D. dissertation and master’s project–the curriculum will empower you to contribute to your   academic career and change communities.
You’re supported from your first research course through the completion of your dissertation. Our faculty are embedded within your development across your entire time here at Saybrook.”

Become a Pioneer
The Department of Research serves all Saybrook students, including you. Our courses support your growth and development as a scholar at the graduate and doctoral level. This extensive level of guidance can prepare you to explore innovative areas of research that you are most passionate about.
Core and adjunct faculty teaching 17 different research courses at the foundational and advanced levels. Through ongoing curricular support for individually mentored courses for graduate capstones, dissertation proposals, and dissertation completion, you will be guided through your specific academic goals and interests.

The Sponsored Programs Office is your partner throughout the grant life cycle. Secure external funding for dissertation research, scholarship, and creative endeavors, ensuring that all grants and contracts comply with federal, state, and local regulations.

Doctoral candidates can turn to the Dissertation Services Office for assistance before and during the dissertation process. The Dissertation Services Office is happy to support doctoral students and dissertation faculty with administrative functions around the dissertation process, including filing petitions to form committees and the documentation of dissertation milestones.
