Wellbeing and Positive Behaviour Support
SPS is a nurturing, inclusive and safe school community. Our holistic approach to learning and wellbeing ensures students feel connected, supported and empowered. They develop the skills and capabilities needed to thrive, contribute and respond positively to the challenges and opportunities of life.
At Sandringham Primary School we support positive behaviour and respectful relationships by focusing on:
Building relationships (Connected)
genuine care and mutual respect
sense of belonging and community
Providing safe and inclusive classroom environments (Protected)
clear and consistent expectations explicitly taught (School Values)
inclusive practices
cognitive engagement
timely feedback and recognition of effort
consistent response to all student behaviour
Building student capability
(Empowered)
skills and capabilities explicitly taught (Human Literacy- SPICE)
student voice, agency, and leadership
At SPS we develop strong partnerships with families to support the social, physical, intellectual, cultural and emotional development of every child. We foster this collaborative approach with parents through Parent Teacher Meetings, phone calls, parent information sessions, newsletters, reports and educational forums. We use Restorative Practices to help navigate and resolve conflict in a respectful, inclusive and empowering way.
Sandringham Primary School respectfully acknowledges the Boon Wurrung /
Bunurong
people, and other peoples of the Kulin Nation on whose ancestral lands we teach and learn. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.
Sandringham Primary School is located about 15 kilometres south east of the Melbourne City Centre. The school is one of the oldest in Victoria, celebrating 170 years in 2025.
