Congratulations on your acceptance to the University of Houston – Clear Lake!
The Orientation and New Student Programs (ONSP) Office is excited to welcome you to
campus! You will join a vibrant and diverse community of students from across Texas
and around the world.
Our orientation process is designed to help you smoothly transition into our Hawk
community and prepare you for your first semester!
To set you up for success at UHCL, please complete the following three steps in order.
This is not an exhaustive list, but it will get you started on your journey.
Important Announcement:
Newly admitted first-year and transfer undergraduate students starting in summer
or fall 2026 can earn up to $1,000 toward their education by completing orientation
and advising steps on time.

New Student Orientation Process
Step 1 – Complete Mandatory Orientation Launchpad Online Pre-Orientation Modules
The Orientation Launchpad is your first step in acclimating as a new student and will
lay the foundation for your journey as a Hawk!
This online resource includes seven engaging modules, and you are expected to complete
each module before moving on to the next steps.
How to Access:
Go to the "Orientation Launchpad" tile in
Go.UHCL.edu
. If you encounter technical difficulties, need to look up your username, reset your
password, or require assistance with Two-Factor Authentication via Duo, please contact
the
Office of Information Technology

Step 2 – Schedule Advising & Registration Appointment
Connecting with an advisor is your next step!
Academic advisors are here to help you plan your first semester, review your degree
requirements, and clear any holds, so you’re ready to register.
Getting Started:
Please check your student email for detailed instructions on beginning your course
registration. You can also visit the
Academic Advising Website
for more information.
Step 3 – Sign Up To Attend Mandatory New Student Orientation
New Student Orientation(NSO) is the final step in launching your life as a Hawk! The
specific NSO program may differ based on your student type.
Please note that students who do not attend the entire required NSO will have a hold
placed on their accounts and will be unable to enroll in classes the following semester.
A non-refundable orientation fee will be charged to all incoming students, which is
due upon registration for orientation or will be reflected on your tuition and fee
statement.
How To Register:
Register for New Student Orientation via the “Orientation” tile in E-Services, accessible
via
Go.UHCL.edu
. Program eligibility differs based on student type.
First-Year Students
First-Year Students
are required to attend a First-Year Student Orientation program.
To be eligible for the First-Year Student Orientation program, at the time of their
admission, First-Year Students either:
Have between 0 - 29 credit hours, or
Entering or continuing college directly after high school graduation.
Learn more and register for First-Year Student Orientation.
Transfer Students
Transfer Students
are required to attend a Transfer Student Orientation program.
To be eligible for the Transfer Student Orientation program, at the time of their
admission, Transfer Students must:
Have 30 or more credit hours
Learn more and register for Transfer Student Orientation.
International Students
International Undergraduate Students
are required to attend an International Student Orientation program.
International Graduate Students
with an F-1 & J-1 visa status
are required to attend an International Student Orientation program. Graduate students
should also contact their academic advisor or graduate program for more information
about program-specific orientation requirements.

Domestic Graduate and Postbaccalaureate Students
Domestic Graduate and Postbaccalaureate Students
are welcome to attend a Transfer Student Orientation program; however, attendance
at the program is not mandatory. Graduate students should also contact their academic
advisor or graduate program for more information about program-specific orientation
requirements.
