Let St John’s Gate capture your imagination
The Museum galleries are free to explore from 9:30am to 5pm Wednesday – Saturday.
Discover over 900 years of history as you enjoy our free trails, colouring and activity sheets, dressing up clothes and hands-on activities.
During school holidays, we offer an exciting programme of free family activities including hands-on making and storytelling inspired by the Museum’s collections.
Toilets and baby-changing facilities are available on site. We aim to make our museum and family activities accessible to everyone, but if you have any questions please contact us:

Free School Holiday Family Activities
We run drop-in family activities on Wednesdays during school holidays. To find out more about our craft activities, storytelling, and first aid demonstrations please see

Free Seacole Sessions
for Autistic
and Neurodiverse Families
Our regular Seacole Sessions are sensory-friendly workshops designed to support autistic and neuro-diverse families. To find out more about our craft activities and storytelling and to book your free space, please see the

Free Under 5’s Workshops
Come and join us on the second Wednesday of each month during term-time for storytelling, singing, movement and music. Sessions last 45 minutes and include light refreshments. To find out more and to book your space, please visit
