Our General Admission Day guarantees access to our heritage building and provides opportunity to chat with our friendly room guides to learn about the history of the venue and our archives & collections on display. Our 5| Quarter café bar also provides fresh cakes and coffee on the day.

The Common Room LEGO® Brick By Brick Model
Visit our LEGO® brick model of our building. This model has been designed and made by local LEGO® architect Brick This, with over 30,000 bricks going into the scale model, including replicas of our Wood Hall and Lecture Theatre.

The Wealth of the North
The North was built on mining and minerals. Coal is the cornerstone of the North East and, indeed, the UK itself, but many other materials have been and continue to be mined in the North. This display showcases all of these ores, minerals and materials, all mined in Northern England, in our Map Room (1st Floor).
