INTRODUCTION:
Anatomy is one of the fundamental basic sciences subjects in medical education that forms the stepping stone for excellent clinical skills. It is taught in 1
st
and 2
nd
year MBBS and 1st-year BDS. The Anatomy Department was established at Ayub Medical College in 1979. Since then, it has grown to become one of the most renowned medical departments in the province. It holds a spacious infrastructure and facilities that have been able to cater to an ever-increasing number of medical and dental students.  As a department, we aim, in accordance with the mission of the college, to create a positive and disciplined learning environment for our students where they can excel. We are committed to imparting to them the knowledge and skills they will need in the future to have successful careers in medicine, research, academia, and service to the community.
The Department has been recognized by CPSP for FCPS training since 2019
Chairperson’s Message:
I am delighted to be the chairperson of this vibrant and dynamic department. We are a team of qualified and experienced faculty members who are passionate about teaching and research. We are committed to providing our students with the best possible education in anatomy so that they have a strong base for clinical practices that can be successful.
Vision of the Anatomy Department:
Our vision is to be a leading center for anatomy education and research, a department that is recognized for its excellence in medical education and research and that attracts and retains the best and brightest students, both undergraduate and postgraduate.
Services:
It has a well-equipped histology lab containing multihead and Binocular microscopes with slides of tissues included in the curriculum. It has a museum for Gross Anatomy, embryology, and histology models and prosected sections and specimens as well as human bones. The department has a spacious Dissection Hall with dissection tables and mortuary that can accommodate 250–300 students. The audiovisual section of the department possesses dissection films, overhead transparency, book and slide projectors, and multimedia to support the teaching process. There are four demonstration rooms and lecture halls for teaching purposes. The facilities of the research lab and departmental library are also available.
We use a variety of teaching methods, including lectures, small group discussions, and laboratory exercises, to help our students learn and apply the knowledge. We also offer student support services on an individual basis, such as tutoring sessions and academic advising.
We offer a comprehensive integrated curriculum that covers all aspects of human anatomy, taught by a team of dedicated and well-versed faculty eager to incorporate new teaching and assessment methodologies.
RESEARCH:
Faculty carry out research projects and publish their articles in recognized journals.
