Alla Scoperta Delle Tradizioni Di Famiglia | Discovering Family Traditions
“Family traditions are woven into the fabric of our lives, marking milestones, celebrations, and simple gatherings with a sense of purpose and continuity. These moments, whether around a dinner table, during holiday celebrations, or in passing down family recipes and stories, are more than just acts – they are bridges connecting past, present, and future generations.  Through them, we find a sense of belonging, grounded in shared history and cherished values.”
– Grace Gava, 7 12 Leader of Teaching & Learning Languages, PLP, Business & Careers
Yesterday, our College embraced this spirit by partnering with Radio Italiana 531AM for an exhibition celebrating Italian traditions. The event, which was part of the 10-day Adelaide Italian Festival, offered a heartwarming and enriching afternoon with engaging guest speakers and insightful student exhibits.
We welcomed esteemed guests, including Dr Ernesto Pianelli, Italian Consul of South Australia, and Gina Marchetti, Representative of the Adelaide Italian Festival Board. We were also joined by Mrs Kirsty Castillo, Education Advisor for Languages and Cross Curriculum Priorities at Catholic Education South Australia; Dr Stefano Bona from Flinders University; Roslie, Liliana, and Angelia from Radio Italiana 531AM; and keynote speakers Mattia Cirulli and Francesco Milocani who shared their individual testaments around their Italian family traditions.
In a vibrant showcase of Italian culture, this celebration reflected Nazareth’s commitment to connecting faith, family, and education. Through exploring language and heritage, our students gained a deeper connection to the world and a stronger sense of belonging, enriched by the diversity around them. Events like these invite us all to embrace cultural richness, nurturing a community rooted in respect, inclusivity, and shared experiences.
Thanks to all guest speakers, partners, and students who made this celebration possible, and to everyone who joined us in honouring the cultural traditions that enrich our Nazareth community.
Be sure to watch the video below, which was part of the event, where our students share insights into their family traditions and what they mean to them.
