Shared Care Arrangements
DMARD Shared Care Arrangements (Excluding Renal Transplant Patients)
These Shared Care Arrangements apply to DMARDs prescribed to adult patients under the care of rheumatology, dermatology, gastroenterology, neurology, ophthalmology and renal (excluding renal transplant patients) specialities.
Listed below are the locally agreed shared care arrangements.
Azathioprine
Ciclosporin
Leflunomide
Mercaptopurine
Methotrexate
Mycophenolate Mofetil
Sulfasalazine
Tacrolimus
Guidance for the Monitoring of Disease Modifying Anti-Rheumatic Drugs (DMARDs) for Patients Under the Care of Rheumatology, Dermatology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Ophthamology and Renal (Excluding Renal Transplant Patients) Specialties by Healthcare Professionals Working within NHS Grampian
This guideline outlines the monitoring requirements for DMARDs, independent of indication. Any patients who require an alternative monitoring schedule to that indicated will be highlighted by the specialist service on an individual patient basis.

This information should be used in conjunction with the NHS Grampian Shared Care Arrangements (SCAs) for other aspects relating to the prescribing of these medicines, e.g. responsibilities for prescribing, trough levels (if indicated), vaccinations (if indicated).
