Frequently Asked Questions
A Bachelor of Science in Digital Marketing degree opens the door to a variety of careers in the world of business and marketing. The global demand for digital marketing professionals continues to grow, spanning a multitude of industries. Here is a sample of job titles open to graduates with this degree: Social Media Manager, Digital Marketing Manager, Data Analyst or Digital Marketing Analyst, Social Media Specialist, SEO Specialist, and Content Creator.
Typically, bachelor’s programs require 120 credit hours, which translates to four years of full-time study for most students. At UMass Global, many of our adult students bring valuable college credits to the table. That’s why we’ve created options for completing your online BS in Digital Marketing more quickly.
Generous Credit Transfer Policy
— We have a flexible transfer policy that allows you to transfer up to 90 credits from previous college coursework — equaling up to 75% of the credits needed to obtain a degree.
Multiple Starts per Year
— UMass Global offers six start dates annually, so you can begin your studies whenever it works best for you. This flexibility also helps when scheduling required courses.
So, while the national standard typically involves a four-year completion timeline, at UMass Global, your BS in Digital Marketing could be closer than you think!
With few exceptions (talking to you, Bill Gates), a college degree will greatly improve your career prospects from a number of angles. While not an absolute requirement (as you would find in medical or legal professions), a bachelor’s degree in digital marketing shows a level of commitment and knowledge that can’t easily be acquired through experience alone.
Here are some of the advantages of earning a digital marketing bachelor’s degree:
Foundation of Knowledge:
A degree program, especially one focused on digital marketing or a related field like
data analytics or business
, provides a strong theoretical and practical foundation.
It can equip you with knowledge of marketing principles, consumer behavior, data analysis, and other essential skills.
Enhanced Credibility:
A degree can add credibility to your resume and make you more competitive in the job market. It can be much more difficult to detail your skills without a degree, whereas, with a BS, those skills are assumed to be part of the curriculum.
Many employers, especially larger corporations, prefer or even require candidates to have a bachelor's degree to apply for positions.
Networking Opportunities:
Being in a university degree program allows you to network with professors, classmates, and industry professionals. These valuable contacts can often provide information or connections for relevant opportunities in the industry.
Structured Learning:
A structured academic environment can help you develop a well-rounded understanding of digital marketing. The depth of the skills and knowledge gained are valuable highlights for a resume or application.
The BS in Digital Marketing at UMass Global covers these areas: search engine optimization and marketing, email marketing, social media marketing, content creation and strategy, data analytics and interpretation, digital advertising and A/B testing, user experience (UX) optimization, and more.
