The Maine Girls’ Academy recognizes that one of the most important things you can do for yourself in your years of high school and beyond is to read. Studies show that the best way to prepare oneself for standardized tests, such as the PSAT and SAT, is to read a variety of material. It has also been found that students who read more become better writers.

2016 MGA Community Read (required for all students, faculty and staff):
I Am Malala
Communities read a common book together for many different reasons. MGA chose this book because of its elements that resonate for us as a school devoted to educating girls and to developing a community-wide sense of social responsibility.
Although a formal written response to the book is not required, the MGA community is encouraged to make notes surrounding reactions, thoughts, questions and ideas in preparation for our school-year discussions.
