The Gilcrease collection provides avenues to experience a wide variety of American cultures, histories and artist expressions. The
Enduring Spirit
exhibition shows distinct cultures of many Indigenous peoples from ancient times to the present, with an emphasis on Oklahoma’s tribal nations. Interdisciplinary highlights from the Gilcrease collection in the
Masterworks
exhibition reveal changing attitudes toward national identity, land use and conflict across the American Continent. While 19th-century artists often celebrated American exceptionalism and westward expansion, artists today confront complicated, chaotic histories. The historical impact of immigration is explored in
Americans All!
, an exhibition of artists who immigrated to the United States and shaped American art and culture for generations.
In addition, guests can experience a year-round schedule of temporary exhibitions that complement and expand upon the stories in the permanent collection.

The permanence of bronze, from antiquity to the present, has long promised artistic immortality. As Frederic Remington declared in 1895, “My oils will all get old and watery – that is they will look like stale molasses in time – my watercolors will fade – but I am to endure in bronze ... I am…
