Deemed Licensure for Health Care Professionals Licensed in Other States
During the public health emergency declared for COVID-19, Vermont enacted special provisions that allowed certain qualifying health care professionals to practice in Vermont without the requirement to obtain a license. The term associated with those provisions was "deemed" licensure. Those
provisions allowing practice in deemed status have all expired. Individuals practicing the professions regulated by the Board of Medical Practice must have a valid license, certification, or registration.
PLEASE NOTE:
that this applies to
only the professions licensed by the Board of Medical Practice (MD, PA, DPM, AA, and RA)
. Members of professions regulated by the Office of Professional Regulation (e.g., DOs, APRNs, and Naturopaths) should contact OPR.
