What We Do
With a policing lineage dating back to 1729, members of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary continue to faithfully serve the people of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Deploying a community policing model, we believe a safe and secure community is everyone’s responsibility and requires the collective efforts of many stakeholders, organizations, community groups, and individuals.
Across three regions; the Northeast Avalon, Corner Brook Region and Labrador West, we continue to work with our partners to build safe, secure, and healthy communities.
The RNC operates out of six locations strategically located throughout the province, as well as one general headquarters, located in the capital city of St. John’s, NL.
RNC members are responsible for traffic safety in areas of Newfoundland and Labrador’s highways, waterways and trails. The RNC also maintains responsibility for providing specialized investigative services to support policing throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.
RNC policing services are categorized by:
Operational Patrol Services
Operational Support Services
Criminal Investigation Division
Specialized Services
