About Northeastern Center
In July of 1977 a group of far-sighted community citizens began an odyssey that continues to this day. This was the incorporation of the Northeastern Center. There had been some service availability through another existing mental health center but these services were available only in Noble County and only consisted of outpatient care. The origin of the Center began to change that.
Beginning with a modest budget and only a dozen employees, the agency expanded outward on several fronts. It contracted for several years for its inpatient services before building in 2004 its existing hospital located in Auburn. It had a single residential home before expanding with HUD homes in the late 1980s and early 1990s. It had a basic partial program before adopting the Clubhouse model presently used. Finally it opened outpatient offices in each county eventually purchasing land and building a facility in each of them.
The agency now has over 200 employees and provides an extensive range of services, employing psychiatric staff, nursing staff, master’s level therapists, community-based case facilitators and support staff. It provides services to individuals with serious mental illness, to children and adolescents with serious emotional disturbances and to individuals struggling with substance abuse.
The Northeastern Center is accredited by CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities). The benefits of accreditation to you, the consumer of services, are:
programs and services are consumer focused;
accreditation standards are developed with the involvement and input of persons served;
accredited programs ensure involvement of planning and implementation of services for the individual;
a monitoring system specifically designed with the best interests of consumers in mind.

Notice to Consumers
The Northeastern Center, Inc. serves all consumers regardless of the ability to pay and accepts Medicare/Medicaid and CHIP (Children’s Health Insurance Program)
Healthcare costs:
$1,500 per day Inpatient
$132 per hour Clinical Services
$315 per hour Physician/Psychiatrist Provider Services
Fee assistance for essential services is offered based on income and family size.

With 12 locations across DeKalb, LaGrange, Noble and Steuben counties, it has served northeast Indiana since 1977.
