Introduction
Master of physiotherapy (MPT) is a two year post graduate degree program after BPT course. Master of physiotherapy offers ample opportunities with multiple variations and horizons for both clinical and research accreditations . It enhances expertise in both interventional improvement with formation of base of the professional practice by scaling the global standards of a postgraduate student . It facilitates the quality care with upgradation and modification according to recent advancement.
Eligibility
He/she has passed the
Bachelor of Physiotherapy
recognized by any recognized University with pass marks (
50%
).
He/she has to furnish, at the time of submission of the application form:
A certificate of physical fitness from a registered medical practitioner.
Two references from persons other than relatives, testifying to satisfactory general character.
Admission to the
Master of Physiotherapy
course shall be made on the basis of eligibility and an entrance test conducted at the State/University level. No candidate will be admitted on any ground unless he/she has appeared in the admission test and interview.
Entrance test to be conducted by the University/State Government as per the prescribed syllabus.
Successful candidates based on the written test will be called for an interview before an interview board comprising the Head of the Department of Physiotherapy (Chairman) and other members as per the policy of the Institute/University. The recommendations of the board shall be final.
During subsequent counselling(s), seats will be allotted as per the merit of the candidate, subject to availability of seats on that particular day.
Candidates who fail to attend the Medical Examination / Physical Fitness test on the notified date(s) will forfeit their claim for admission.

MPT Program Highlights
MPT course offers an opportunity to experience practical learning and to gain required skills to be an expert physiotherapist in particular domain.
Student can choose from variety of specialization fields such as sports related physiotherapy, neurological conditions, movement disorders ,rehabilitation & recovery.
As a Physiotherapy student, you will be leading in academics how to use a range of drug-free techniques to treat and prevent injuries, as well as promote a healthy living
During this two-year degree course, students explore advanced techniques and therapeutic treatment in different streams; applied to patients across the lifespan.
One of the emerging profession in " fit India" and will offer ample opportunities over the years.
This follows year long system in general ,with a dissertation in 2nd year
MPT Specialization
The Master of Physiotherapy (MPT) program at Jagannath University is designed to advance clinical knowledge, research skills, and professional practice in specialised areas of physiotherapy. The program offers the following specialization:
Master of Physiotherapy in Musculoskeletal Science
Focuses on the assessment and management of orthopaedic and musculoskeletal conditions, enhancing mobility and function through manual therapy, exercise, and evidence-based rehabilitation.
Master of Physiotherapy in Neuroscience
Equips students with advanced skills to treat neurological disorders such as stroke, spinal cord injuries, and neurodegenerative diseases, emphasizing neuro-rehabilitation and functional recovery.
Master of Physiotherapy in Cardio-Pulmonary Science
Specialises in the rehabilitation of patients with cardiac and respiratory conditions, including ICU care, pulmonary rehab, and chronic disease management.
Master of Physiotherapy in Sports Science
Prepares students for injury prevention, performance enhancement, and rehabilitation in athletic populations, blending biomechanics, sports medicine, and advanced physiotherapy techniques.
Master of Physiotherapy in Pediatrics and Neonatal Sciences
Focuses on early intervention, developmental therapy, and rehabilitation for infants and children with congenital, neurological, or growth-related challenges.
Master of Physiotherapy in Obstetrics and Gynecology Science
Provides expertise in managing women’s health issues, including antenatal and postnatal care, pelvic floor dysfunction, and physiotherapy for gynecological conditions.

No dual specialisation
Each specialisation includes clinical training, research projects, and hands-on exposure to prepare students for advanced roles in physiotherapy practice and academia.
