Graduation Requirements
College Preparatory Diploma Requirements at John Milledge Academy
A minimum of 24 units is required for graduating from John Milledge Academy.
English: 4 units
Math: 4 units
Science: 4 units
Social Studies: 4 units
Foreign Language: 2 units of the same language
PE/Health: 1 unit
Electives: 5 units
*NOTE: Juniors and Seniors who meet JMA and local college/university criteria may also enroll in Dual Enrollment classes. Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors who meet JMA criteria may enroll in various Advanced Placement courses offered by JMA.  See the

Honor Graduates
Cum Laude Graduates:
Maintain a minimum overall average of 90 during grades 9-12,
Have no major disciplinary record during grades 9-12, AND,
Met required academic rigor:
Minimum of 6 honors courses
Minimum of one AP Class or two dual enrollment classes
Magna Cum Laude Graduates:
Exceed the Honor Graduate criteria with a cumulative average of 93 or above,
Have no major disciplinary record for their 4 years of upper school,
Minimum number of 9 honors level classes in core subjects in grades 9-11.
Met required academic rigor – minimum of
three or more
of the following courses:
Highest math or dual enrollment equivalent,
AP US History, AP Government, or DE equivalent,
AP English 11, AP English 12, or DE English 101 and 102, OR
AP Biology or DE equivalent
Summa Cum Laude Graduate/Valedictorian:
Meet criteria for Magna Cum Laude,
Attended JMA for a minimum of 3 semesters,
Completed the most challenging core courses as a senior,
AND
Earned highest grade average for grades 9-12
Summa Cum Laude Graduate/Salutatorian
Meet criteria for Magna Cum Laude,
Attended JMA for a minimum of 3 semesters,
Completed the most challenging core courses as a senior, AND
Earned second highest grade average for grades 9-12
