ECONOMIC POLICY & PLANNING DEPARTMENT
The Department of Economic Policy and Planning is responsible for conducting and preparing key research outputs on economic assessments across various topics and sectors for the Somali Federal Government. The Department monitors, analyses, assess the development of the Somali economy and the development of public finances and the use and distribution of the fiscal resources of the country. The Department achieves the above goals by supporting the maintenance, operation and implementation of Economic models to generate baseline data and develop scenarios and by conduct assessment of the socio-economic conditions/needs in various parts of Somalia and reviewing the macroeconomic situation to identify the internal and external factors affecting the growth of the Somali economy. Further, the Department is responsible for assisting the capacity building exercise for policy makers in Federal Government on macroeconomic policies and policy choices.
