WISE Program
The pharmacy residency programs at NYU Langone Health provide hands-on clinical training enhanced by participation in hospital-wide committees and activities that guide effective and safe medication use. This intensive and individualized experience prepares each resident for a successful career as a highly qualified clinical pharmacotherapist in a variety of practice settings. In addition to clinical rotations, residents contribute to educational programs and services across the health system. Research skills are developed under the guidance of

through completion of both a medication use evaluation and scholarly project suitable for publication.

Specialized Clinical Training for Pharmacy Residents
As a resident in our program, you train with highly skilled clinical pharmacotherapists who are board-certified in their specialized clinical areas. Our vision is to provide optimal pharmaceutical services to all patients.
Our clinical pharmacotherapy specialists practice collaboratively with physician colleagues at NYU Langone; the service we provide is an essential component of the multidisciplinary care we provide patients.
Clinical pharmacy services and rotations cover many adult and pediatric settings, including critical care, internal medicine, cardiology, infectious diseases, emergency medicine, solid organ and bone marrow transplant, and hematology–oncology.
Our core mission is to provide high-quality patient care by optimizing the use of medications and ensuring their safe distribution and administration. We contribute to educational programs and services throughout NYU Langone Health. Team members have assisted in establishing the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program and Antithrombotic Stewardship Program, developing medication usage protocols, and providing leadership for medication-related clinical research. We are actively involved in various hospital-wide committees that guide effective and safe medication use and monitoring.
Residency training occurs throughout locations at NYU Langone, including our state-of-the-art pharmacy in
Tisch Hospital
. The pharmacy team consists of more than 75 pharmacists, 65 technicians, and more than 30 clinical and operational preceptors. We provide 24-hour pharmacy services, including medication dispensing via Swisslog robotic technology. A USP 797–compliant HEPA-filtered clean room utilizes the DoseEdge pharmacy workflow management system to ensure the accurate preparation of intravenous admixtures. Our automated dispensing device monitoring system (Pandora) accurately and safely dispenses narcotic medications. The use of these and other new technologies has allowed pharmacists who work in various pharmacy satellites to expand their role beyond dispensing in order to provide direct patient care.
