Community Partners
We Value Working Together
Community partnership is one of Oaklawn’s five core values and central to how we support individuals, families and the communities we serve. We believe strong collaboration leads to better outcomes, and we work closely with local organizations, systems and leaders to create coordinated, effective care.
We partner with local governments, schools, emergency departments, federally qualified health centers, jails, law enforcement and helping agencies to extend mental health expertise in our community. We value these relationships and fully believe we are better together.
Here are a few of the key partnerships we’re proud to coordinate in our community.
“My experience has been very good over many years. Oaklawn is mission-driven and a trusted community partner.”
– A Partner
Systems of Care
Oaklawn hosts the systems of care in Elkhart and St. Joseph counties. A system of care is a group of providers, families and youth working together to make it easier for kids, teens and young adults to get the mental health help they need. This includes bringing partners together to strengthen the community’s mental health system, identifying gaps in services and improving access to care. Learn more about each system of care at their website.

Camp Mariposa
Camp Mariposa is a free, supportive program for youth who have been impacted by the substance use disorder of a family member. Through fun camp activities and therapeutic, age-appropriate experiences, campers build coping skills, connect with peers who understand their experiences and gain tools to support their own health.
Camp Mariposa is always free to families thanks to generous philanthropic support from community partners and donors, including Eluna. This funding ensures that every child can participate regardless of financial circumstances, removing barriers to care and helping break the intergenerational cycle of addiction while strengthening families and communities.

CIT brings together law enforcement, mental health providers and community stakeholders to improve outcomes for individuals in crisis. They do this through specialized first responder training, program certification, community partnerships and advocacy for safer crisis services.
